Project room reserved to 16 European galleries of contemporary art selected among those participating at KunStart, are called to set up 16 personal exhibitions of 16 emerging artists, in dialogue with 16 promising local artists. The aim of this project is to trigger processes of networking at European level between the selected galleries, and to facilitate to take contact with the local reality and in particular with local museums and institutions.    

ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

Composition of the committee: Valerio Dehò (curator of Kunst Merano Arte); Martina Morocutti (curator of KunStart); Lisa Trockner (curator of the Südtiroler Künstlerbund); David Tomasi (curator of CRAM of Mezzocorona); Luca Bradamante (curator of Very Contemporary). The committee will interact with the following museums and institutions: Museion and Arge_Kunst (Bolzano), Kunst Merano Arte (Merano), Galleria Civica di Trento (Trento).

SELECTION

Within the 31 st of January 2010 each gallery that adhered to KunStart 2010 can apply to the project by sending the following documentation to intersections@kunstart.it:  

- a résumé and presentation of the gallery

- CV of the artist UNDER 35 to present at Intersections

- 3 images of 3 artworks of the proposed artist.

Each gallery can propose a max of 3 artists. Within the 12 th of February   2010 all the selected galleries will be contacted and the assigned booth for the project will be communicated:

a) there must be a minimum proportion of 50% between national and international galleries, with a preference of areas of the following countries: Italy , Austria , Germany , Switzerland , countries from Eastern Europe;

b) well-balanced relation between the “centre” (cities of major visibility for the art sector: for example Berlin , Milan) and “periphery” (peripheral cities or cities near the frontiers);

c) quality of the proposed exhibition project;

d) age of the artist (preference for artists under 35).

DEVELOPMENT

1) To each selected gallery a free exhibition space of 25 smq is assigned, which will host 1 personal exhibition of an emerging artist of the gallery to put in dialogue with 1 chosen artwork of a local artist selected by the committee, in accordance with cultural institutions of the territory.  

2) In the month of February 2010 all the selected galleries and their artists of reference will be put in contact with the local identified artists. The exhibition spaces will be planned and relevant documentation for the project   will be collected and drawn up.

3) The set up of the artworks will be during the days of the 3 rd and 4 th of March, with the involvement of the galleries, the artists and, on request, with technical specialized staff.

4) Each booth (where the staff of the gallery does not necessarily have to be present), will report the gallery’s name. The artwork of the local artist will be exhibited near a lateral panel, painted with grey (the remaining booth, with panels of 3 meters , will be painted with white colour). In case the artwork of the local artist is going to be sold, the gallery will get 50% of the proceeds.  

5) On the 4 th of March, will be the "Professional Meeting" of the fair, meetings (closed to the public) will be organized intended to present the artworks, as well as a face to face between the different people involved into the project and representatives of local museums and medias will be present.  

6) From the 5 th to the 7 th of March 2010, the exhibition will be open to the public, together with Kunstart  and "Arredo 2010" (Fair of Interior Design). To the project will be dedicated a section on the official exhibitors’ catalogue and on the website of the fair.
